Princessduckling's pond life

I'm stuck with this ridiculous name after one moment of madness when choosing a user name. Welcome to the pond and please join me in bobbing around looking idly for bits of bread and watching out for rowing boats with over-excited small children in. Email the duckling pond

I'm flippant, sarcastic and not of great use to society. But you'll never find me a troublesome person to sit next to on a bus.

Most nauseating blog post competition entry

Things are quite horrible right now. But they're not as horrible as they could be thanks to my amazing, wonderful friends. I know this blog is not full of fantastic writing, nor is it the sort that people stumbling across it are likely to bookmark and follow avidly, but it does provide me with an outlet to be as self-obsessed, drivelly and generally webwasting as people accuse bloggers of being!

So a huge, enormous and very, very heartfelt hug to my friends. I don't know how I can repay you but really I owe you big time.

And to Madeleine Lucy, born yesterday against more odds than most babies, I say hello.

I've got you bookmarked, Princess.
I know this is not a good time for you. Nothing people say can really change that. But don't brackets help.

Throw things away, and eat nice food and drink wine. It will make you feel better.

Yep, throwing things away and good food will help. But I have a better idea: curl up with a favourite book and great Merlot by your side. Nothing ever looks as black as it did when Lady Catherine leaves Longborne infuriated and disappointed.

Throw things away, and let your friends send you new, crappier, more plasticky things! Things they really wanted for themselves, but ultimately, felt strong enough to donate wind-up toys, catapults with tiny pink pigs and books about kittens to the cause.

Man, your friends have *great* taste! They love you!
